A. O. Smith Launches New Line of Commercial Water Heaters

September 20, 2011

Today, A. O. Smith (www.Hotwater.com) announced the launch of its new line of XP Boilers and XP Automatic Circulating Water Heaters for large-volume commercial applications. Designed for versatility and energy savings, these units bring together touchscreen simplicity and high-efficiency operation, along with A. O. Smith’s reputation for reliability.

With a combination of innovative control features and modulating capabilities, XP represents the latest in high-efficiency fully condensing boilers from A. O. Smith, offering high outputs for demanding applications ranging from 920,000 to 3.4 million Btu/hr. XP models are designed to be used in both hydronic and potable hot water applications such as large-volume, full-service hotels and high-rise apartment complexes as well as resorts, government buildings, schools, and hospitals.

“A. O. Smith is committed to moving the industry forward in energy efficiency, introducing new options that meet a comprehensive range of commercial applications in order to reduce utility bills and power demand,” said A. O. Smith President and Chief Operating Officer Ajita Rajendra. “Our brand promise is energy-efficient products, and we’re delivering on that promise once again with the XP product line.”

XP models are equipped with state-of-the-art stainless steel heat exchanger technology, which can achieve thermal efficiencies of up to 99 percent when used in low-temperature applications. The multi-pass/multi-burner heat exchanger is designed to optimize efficiency and minimize operating costs with every heating cycle.

Each unit features fully modulating burners with a turndown ratio of up to 20:1, which allows an unprecedented range of load-equalizing firing rates. XP models take temperature management to new levels of comfort and fuel efficiency by matching exact boiler output to the building’s needs or requirements.

In addition, XP models have top-of-the-line control features with a touchscreen user interface. The control operates each of the burners as a separate boiler, which means that it is able to send error messages about problems with one burner while activating another – thus preventing system shutdowns.
