Safety Recall - Missing Baffles
In voluntary cooperation with the Consumer Products Safety Commission, A. O. Smith Water Products Company is conducting a product safety inspection / repair program. The following products are involved:
Product:
- FCG-75 (300 & 301 Series)
- PCG-75 (300 & 301 Series)
Units: About 1,156 units manufactured between November 12, 2007 and December 12, 2007.
Hazard: Some units may have had 1 or more of the flue baffles omitted during manufacturing. Without all 4 baffles installed, the flue temperatures may run higher than permitted under the ANSI standard which could create a risk of fire. The absence of one or more baffles also creates a risk of carbon monoxide spillage from under the draft hood.
Incidents reported: None
Description: The recall involved 75 gallon “cross-fire”, natural gas and LP 300 & 301 series built between November 12, 2007 and December 12, 2007. The range of serial numbers of the affected models is between L07A071460 to M07A072884.
What to do: If you have one of the models shown above, please locate the rating plate on the front of the water heater to determine if it was built between the stated dates and has a serial number within the range shown, then please contact one of the below to determine if your unit is affected:

Safety Recall - Incorrect Baffles
In voluntary cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission, A. O. Smith Water Heaters is conducting a product safety retrofit program. The following product is involved:
Product: 75-Gallon Propane Gas Water Heaters (model and serial numbers listed below).
Units: About 5,000 that were manufactured in the U.S. between the period of January 2004 and July 2005.
Hazard: The water heaters can accumulate soot on the burners, posing a fire hazard.
Incidents/Injuries: None reported.
Description: The recall involved 75-gallon propane gas water heaters with the brand name "A. O. Smith" on the side of the unit. The serial number and model are located on the rating plate. Only units with the model’s listed below that were manufactured between January 2004 and July 2005 are included in this recall.
