Energy and Money-Saving Efficiency. State-of-the-Art Water Heaters.

A. O. Smith is proud to sponsor Tommy “Two Gloves” Gainey, a first-year player on the PGA Tour and a former employee at A. O. Smith’s McBee, S.C., water heater plant. Gainey, a self-taught golfer from small-town Bishopville, S.C., first stole America’s heart as the winner of Golf Channel’s reality series Big Break VII: The Reunion at Reunion. After he walked away with the trophy, Gainey entered the PGA’s Q-School and earned his tour card. He made the cut in his first PGA tournament appearance at the Sony Open in Honolulu, Hawaii. In 2008, Gainey has played in 18 PGA tournaments and six Nationwide tournaments, and he has been featured in some of the top golf publications.

“A. O. Smith gave me an opportunity to make a living so many years ago when I began working at the McBee plant,” said Gainey. “I don’t think that I can ever thank them enough for putting their faith in me yet again and deciding to sponsor me on the tour.”

A. O. Smith is the official water heater provider for season five of ABC’s hit TV show “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.” Millions watch every week as the EMHE crew scream “Move That Bus!” for one deserving family, and A. O. Smith’s goal this season is to outfit those deserving families with a new Vertex, or other high-efficiency water heater model, to take care of the new lucky homeowners’ water heating needs. For each episode, the producers of the show select a deserving family and build them an entirely new house in one week or less.

A. O. Smith Water Products Company has signed a long-term exclusive brand license / endorsement agreement with the producers of the hit TV series Living With Ed and it’s co-star Ed Begley Jr.  Under terms of the agreement, A. O. Smith will use the trademark of the show and the endorsement of Begley to market its Vertex™ line of residential gas water heaters throughout the United States.

The A. O. Smith Vertex™ is a residential gas water heater that combines high efficiency, compact design, and ease of installation. It combines higher input with more efficient combustion to produce hot water at lower operating costs and 90 percent thermal efficiency, making this water heater the right choice when going green.
