Product Innovation of the Year Award
Frost & Sullivan has selected A. O. Smith Corporation as the recipient of the 2009 North American Water Heaters Product Innovation of the Year Award. This is the second time A. O. Smith has received the award in four years. The Frost & Sullivan Award for Product Innovation of the Year is presented each year to the company that has demonstrated excellence in new products and technologies within its industry. A. O. Smith received the award for its new product developments, including the Cyclone® Xi and Vertex™ water heaters.

A. O. Smith Water Products Company is proud to announce that its Cyclone Xi 500,000 BTU commercial water heater was recently given the Silver level award in the Commercial Appliances Division in Appliance DESIGN magazine’s 21st Annual Excellence in Design Competition.

A. O. Smith has been named the 2008 Excellence in Manufacturing Award Winner presented by the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce's Manufacturers Council, working in partnership with Lattimore, Black, Morgan & Cain, P.C., Nashville Business Journal, and Waddey & Patterson P.C.
The Excellence in Manufacturing Awards program was established to celebrate and recognize quality among Middle Tennessee manufacturers. Nominees are evaluated and selected by a panel of seven volunteer judges with extensive public and private manufacturing experience, who scored the applicants based on criteria such as leadership in manufacturing, manufacturing processes, growth and consistency and employee development.

2008 Product of the Year, Gold Winner
Consulting-Specifying Engineer (CSE)—a monthly publication with a circulation of more than 46,000 mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineers—named A. O. Smith’s Cyclone Xi commercial water heater as a gold winner in its 2008 Product of the Year competition.
“Competition was fierce this year; the judges had a hard time narrowing the finalists down to three for each category. We take this as a sign that manufacturers are investing more in new-product R&D, which is a huge win for the building industry and the environment,” said Jim Langhenry, CSE publisher.

The A. O. Smith Vertex™ has been named the AHR Expo Innovation Award Green Building Product of the Year. Winning products were chosen for their ability to help HVAC&R professionals best provide safer, healthier, more efficient and/or more comfortable indoor environments. The annual competition is sponsored by ASHRAE, the Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI), and International Exposition Company (IEC). The purpose is to recognize and encourage innovation and creativity in the HVAC&R industry.
